X-Diamond Ranch

The weekend after mom, Aimee and Tuscanee left our little family headed up to Greer Arizona for a weekend of cooler air, beautiful mountains and fishing for Nate. We went up with some friends and had a great weekend. I dropped Nate off at the river at 2:30 on Friday and I did not see him again until Saturday night around 7. OK not really, but he was basically fishing from sun up to sun down. Carter absolutely loved being outside and running around. It was so nice to be out doors in the fresh cool air. We were able to venture down to the river with Nate and watch him fish for a bit. It was so exciting to watch him land a fish. Saturday night we were outside talking and Nate looked up and about 30 feet in front of us in our front yard was a huge Elk. It was so amazing to see it so close. We had a great weekend!

On our way back home we stopped at a creek that Nate had heard about to check it out. Nate was only planning on fishing for an hour or so. We got there at about 1:30 and did not leave until 5:15. He was having an incredible time and caught some great fish. Carter and I had a great time watching him and playing by the creek. I am so glad Nate has a new hobby he loves, but I am afraid I may have lost him to a trout.

We were throwing rocks in the creek.

Listen to what he says at the beginning!

Happy Boy!

Lake Powell

Lake Powell is one of our favorite places to go. It has been awhile since we have been, so we were excited to go this year. We were debating between Lake Powell for a week or our 10 year high school reunion. It was a tough decision, but we chose the Lake! Before we left Nate gave Carter another hair cut so that he wouldn't be too hot. His hair grows like a weed.
We headed up to Powell and spent the night on the house boat while it was docked and then planned on heading out in the morning to find a spot on the lake. It took a little longer to get out, but we finally made it and Carter had so much fun helping Grandpa McDowell Drive the boat and honk the horn.

We found a great spot in Dove Cove and actually stayed there the entire week. We usually move spots. It has been since I was pregnant with Carter that I have really been out on the lake, so I was itching to do stuff. We had a great time waterskiing, ski skiing, surfing, tubing, wake boarding and just playing in the water.
Sage is our protector and is making sure that I get up ok. She was in and out of the water watching out for everyone especially Nate!
First ski of the season, should have worn my gloves.
This is Nate getting ready to go on the Sky Ski or Air chair. It is really fun and takes a lot of balance to do it. This was the first year that I was able to get up and fly above the water. It was fun!
Surfing is really fun behind a boat and Uncle Mike was able to get up for the first time. Way to Go!!
If you know Nate well, you know that once he masters something he has to try and do it better, or different or add a challenge to it. Nate has mastered the surfing, he got Sage up with him a few years ago, so he wanted to try tandem surfing with me. I did not think it would work, but we got up. I couldn't keep from laughing. We were both trying to get our balance in the same spot, so i was pushing him back and he was pushing me forward. Nate always likes to put a twist on things.
I am not a tube person, but Megan (Nate's step sister) bought the funnest tube ever. I felt like my life may end if I fell off, but I have never laughed so hard and had so much fun! This is Me Uncle Mike and Megan handing on for dear life with Nate and Brittany (another step sister) on the boat trying to shake us.
I was a little worried about Carter and how he would handle the heat, sleeping and having to wear his life jacket. He did awesome! He enjoyed swimming, boat rides (kind of), walking the beach with Grandma and entertaining everyone. He did awesome sleeping and was our morning wake up call for the morning ski.
Carter had so much fun play with Grandma Jo that every time she held him he pointed outside. He knows how to work the system. Thanks for playing with me Grandma!!

One of Nate's favorite "traditions" of Lake Powell is sitting on the back of the houseboat and fishing. He caught a bunch of fish and had a great time doing it. That is the moon in the background.

Again he took the normal thing and spiced it up a bit. A few years ago it was spear fishing and this year it was with his "RC" boat. He has a line and hook tied to the end of the boat. He actually caught like 3 fish from it. Who would have thought?

Sage watching as Nate leave behind the boat without her. She panics if she is not with him.

Love the hair

This is Nate the morning we had to pack up and head home. He did not want to leave! Thanks Jo and Steve for a fun week!
