Where is the Bat?

So we have had quite the adrenaline rush at our house. Wednesday, Carter and I left the house around 11 to go to a birthday party. Nate was at home working and happened to be at the kitchen table instead of back in his office. I pulled out of the drive way and had to wait for a green minivan because it was approaching. The van stopped about 2 house down, kind of like it was waiting to let me out, so I just backed up and went on my way. About 20 minutes later I got a call on my cell phone from Nate saying that I would have never guess what had just happened. About 5 minutes after I left someone knocked on our front door. Nate was still in the kitchen and since he was working he did not want to answer. They knocked 3 or 4 times. So Nate got up and looked out our side window to see if he could see who it was. Then he heard the gate rattle and went and looked out our kitchen window. He saw a man's hand coming over the gate to unlatch it. A guy entered our backyard with a backpack on and went straight for the garage side door to check if it was open. Nate immediately ran to our bedroom to get his shoes and the BAT that we usually keep in our bedroom. He could not find it and I am sure was coursing my name for moving it. He found a wooden dowel rod that we used to keep a window shut. Him and our dog Allie ran out our back sliding glass doors and turned the corner to see now 2 big guys trying to enter our home. They were so surprised to see Nate and all they wanted to do was get out of here. One guy opened the gate and went through while the other tried to jump over. Nate met him on the other side and gave him a few good pounds with his rod. He dropped his backpack and ran after his buddy. Allie and Nate were chasing after them. One car drove past without even stopping to help (that upset Nate the most), but a nice lady stopped and Nate told her to call 911. Another car, a green minivan, was pulling up and Nate yelled at it to call 911 as he noticed these 2 guys getting in to it. So Nate got the license plate number and a perfect description of the car. Nate said that cops were at our house with in 3 minutes and with in 10 minutes they called in that they had caught the guys. Nate did not want them coming back to our house so he could ID them, so Nate jumping into one of the police cars and raced south about 15miles. Nate said they were going SOOOOO fast. They said as the call went out on the police radio of what to look for, an under cover cop looked in his rear view window and saw a green minivan. He pulled over, let the van pass, and then pulled behind to verify and pulled them over. I had to pick Nate up at the police station and the first thing he said to me is "where is the bat, I could have done so much more damage with the bat."

As of yesterday they all 3 were still in jail and the bat has been found and relocated to our bedroom. Allis is now learning that it is ok to bark when someone is at the door. If the dudes don't admit to what they did then we will probably have to go to court and testify. This is so crazy that it happened. They just saw a car pulling out and probably thought, : Wife is leaving to run errands, husband is at work and we have a empty house...... Be safe and aware of what is going on around you!!

X-Diamond

For the past 3 years we have been going to x-Diamond Ranch at least once a year. It is a cattle ranch that has nice cabins, a couple miles of private fly fishing water and cool temperatures. It is one of Nate's top 3 places to fish. We had a great time and wished we could have stayed a few more nights. We had rain in the afternoons and every time we would go outside after it rained, Carter would take a deep breath and say, "smells good". He is too cute. Nate had a great time fishing and probably caught 50+ fish. Carter did awesome netting and even got his first taste of reeling in a "baby Fish". I even threw a few casts and caught a nice rainbow. It was a great weekend we are already looking forward to next year when we go.

Getting out of the Heat

A few weekends ago we decided to head north and do a little camping. Of course we found a spot right along a river. We took the adventurous, less traveled route and it was very scenic. We saw lots of wild life and beautiful country. We had a great time. Carter loved being camping and fishing of course. Carter has always been a great sleeper and we never had him sleep in our bed with us so when we go camping Nate and I never get a good nights rest. Carter moves around so much, wont keep the covers on him and I am afraid I will squish him. So besides the fact we did not sleep well, everything else was great. Highs in the 80's and lows in the 40's. It was sooo nice.

Golden Spoon

After a long day of working in the yard, we usually decide to pick something up TOGO since neither one of us has energy to make anything. On such an occasion, we were sitting in the car waiting for the time when our order would be done and I noticed something a few doors down. I jumped out and told Nate I would be right back. I returned with this:


I have not seen a Golden Spoon in years and Nate made fun of me for doing this, but I had to take pictures and post about it. Golden spoon was such a big part of my life, back in the day. It was the place you went after the Friday night football game, a place to just hang out, and a place to get some yummy yogurt (for just a dollar I might add). I got Mint and it was yummy!

The joy of a Red Cup

When Carter was 1-ish we had gotten some of those bulk red Dixie cups from Costco to use for Camping and whatever. We pulled a stack of them out and built towers with him so he could knock them down. Well we have now gotten a second package of these cups and Carter's towers are a regular occurrence in our house (3-4 a day). Carter loves to build, invent, discover and play. He is just a amazing. He likes mom dads help, but usually we will find him by himself with the cups creating something great on his own. He loves it and has so much fun!

Bye Deedle Deedle De

We Carter is officially with out his Deedle Deedle De (Binkie). He loved it but we decided he really did not need it any more and his mouth and teeth would be better off without it. We waited for all our traveling to be over and then I tried to do what my sister did by cutting up the binki and then saying it is broken and we have to throw it away. When I told him that is said ok, but then broke down in tears and absolutely sobbed. I couldn't do it. I told him it was ok and we fixed Deedle Deedle De. The next night I just poked a few holes in it so it did not have its comfort anymore and let him go a few days with that. He definitely noticed a difference, and he had a little bit of trouble falling asleep, but we just let him figure it out. Then I cut the tip off and let him us that for a few days. I walked in about 3 days after i clipped the tip and it was on the floor, so I grabbed it without him noticing and it is gone. NO MORE DEEDLE DEEDLE DE. He has asked about it a few times and we just say it is gone and he is fine. I will miss him saying it, but it is nice to be done. Yippee for Carter!!!

California 2009

We had another awesome time at the beach house in California. Carter was able to spend time with 5 of his cousins, his Nana and Papa and some of his Aunts and Uncles. He had so much fun with all of them and with all the fun activities we did. He absolutely loved the water, sand and just being outside doing what everyone else was doing. Thanks for a great week!
