Dancing Carter

At the resort Carter was exploring everywhere and loved climbing up and down the umbrella stand. Then they turned the music on and Carter went crazy....

My little Robot!

You may have noticed from previous posts that Carter, and our whole family for that matter, like to dance. A crazy song came on on some TV commercial so Nate and I started to do some Robot dancing. Carter saw this and did not want to miss out on the fun.

We were walking through a store the other day and he started doing the robot to the beat of the music in the store. It was so funny

My wonderful Husband

I am having a really hard time getting a youth babysitter to watch Carter for Nate and I to go out, so anytime we have family come into town we take advantage of an evening out. My mom came into town this week to play so we planned on Friday night for us to go to dinner and a movie. Thursday so a rough day for Nate. He did not sleep well and he had a lot of stressful things going on. Friday he had really bad Heart burn, having flu like symptoms, and did not sleep well. So we decided that we would just go to dinner because he would not be able to sit through a movie. We went and got Sushi and all Nate could eat was a small bowl of soup. He just was not feeling well. We left there and decided to just go walk around the mall. However Nate kept on driving past the mall entrance. I asked him where we were going and he said that we were going to get ice cream. So I thought OK. Then he turned on the freeway to head towards Tucson. We never go that way, so I knew something was up. He unfolded his sneakiness to me. My birthday is next week and He had planned a weekend at a local resort. We went to the Gila River Wildhorse Pass Resort. It was so nice. However as we got out of the car to walk up to the check in area, Nate dropped our bags and walked to the side of the path and threw up. He happened to grab a plastic bag that was in our car just in case. I don't think I have ever seen in throw up in the almost 7 years that we have been married. I felt so bad and said that we should see if we can get a refund, because it is never fun being sick somewhere else. He said that he felt so much better now and was good to go. So we checked in and had a great weekend. When Nate first told me we were going to be away for the weekend my first thought was that I was going to miss Carter, but Nate had already thought of that and My mom and Carter joined us the next day for breakfast at my favorite restaurant, Wildflower Bread Company and then played with us all day at the resort. They had some heated pools and a water slide that was lots of fun. It was a beautiful day and perfect laying out by the pool.

Carter and Grandma left to head home and I went and got a River Rock Pedicure. It was so wonderful. My legs have been aching from all my running so it was perfect. This morning we slept in until 9:15am. It has been years since we have slept in that late. It was great. We walked along the resort and river and just enjoyed the beautiful day. It was a perfect weekend and I thank Nate for planning it all and thinking of me and to Grandma for playing with Carter and taking care of him so well.

What have I gotten myself into...

I received a message for a friend of a friend saying she had a question for me about running. I thought to myself, "well I like running, but I don't know if I am the one to answer running questions." I called her back not thinking I could really help her out. She said that she was actually seeing If I would be interested in running in a race. They needed 12 total people and only had like 9 at the time. I told her that I would think about it and get back to her. The race is called the Del Sol Ragnar Relay. There are 12 team members that each run 3 legs ranging between 3-8 miles each. The race totals 182 and starts in the AM on Friday and ends in the evening on Saturday. I have seen info about this race and have always thought it would be interesting and fun. I would say that I am healthy and probably run 5 miles a week at the gym, but no where near being able to run this kind of race.

The next day after she called, and went out for a run to see how many miles I could do and how I felt. I could only do 1 1/2 and then had to walk some and did another 1. I was also pushing Carter in the stroller. I figured with some training I could do it. I thought about it some more and talked to Nate and then called her back and said I would do it. I met with all the ladies the other night and they gave out the running course for each person. My first leg is 7.1 miles (very hard), 2nd leg 7.8 miles(very Hard) and 3rd leg 3.8 miles (easy). ( i am lucky enough to get the finish line leg) When i got my course I thought to myself "What did I get myself into". the most I have ever run at one time is 6.2 miles. I am going to need to seriously kick my butt into gear. The race is Feb. 27 -28, so say a little prayer for me that my legs will keep moving and finish the race. I CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!

My boys!

The Moon

Last night when Carter and I were coming home this is what we saw as I drove to our house. I ran inside and got the camera. The moon was huge. Nate and a friend were out fishing, so I knew that it had to be an incredible view for him over the lake. It was so pretty. I hope the view of the moon was great for you where ever you may be.

Best dancer in the World

The other day we were watching that new dancing show where they are trying to find the best dancers in the world. Well I think we have him right here in our very own home. He definitely has the close down pat.

Crash

So a couple of years ago I got this cool Long board for Nate that is called a Carve board. What is cool about it is you carve like in snowboarding or wake boarding to get it to move. It works best when going down hill, but since we don't have any hills around us in AZ, Nate hooks our dogs up to a water ski rope and they pull him. They get great exercise and Nate gets a fun ride. We have even hooked the rope on the back of a car and gotten a great ride.

We usually get two kinds of looks from our neighbors, either "that is so cool" or "Really". Nate took the girls (dogs) out on it last night so they could get some exercise while I was cooking dinner. He was gone for about 10 minutes which is normal and he came back to tell me he had his first crash. As he was leaving the driveway in a turn one of the tires must have got a rock stuck in it or something, because the tire started to skid. Nate said that he thought to himself, "should I jump or can I hold on?" He decided to jump, but the board hit his ankle and caused him to fall. He hit his hands and chest first and his right arm and side is all scraped up. Of course that did not stop him from taking the dogs out. His Adrenalin was running because he said it did not hurt until he got home. He is going to have some bruses and be sore for a while, but we are glad he is okay. He does have a helmet, but of course he was not wearing it.

What is that noise?

So we still have not moved our dining room table back into the room from Christmas. It has kind of been nice to have an extra room to put some of Carters toys and let him play. So yesterday I was in the kitchen working on some primary stuff and carter was in the dining room playing with one of his toys that make noise, so I could hear him. Then I started to hear a different noise and couldn't understand why I was hearing it.....

I think I have a fearless boy on my hands.

Goals for the year

Every year I make a big long list of things that I want to improve on or change in my live. I usually am good at one of them for a while and then forget what my original goals were. So even thought I have a ton of things to work on this year, I am just going to focus on 3. This way, hopefully I can make it to the end of the year doing then all.

1. Read my scriptures 10 minutes a day.
2. Do Family Home Evening every Monday night at 7
3. Stand up straighter

That's it. So far I am 100% on 1 and 2 and trying to notice 3 more.

Cute Carter

He got this outfit for Christmas, and I just thought he looked so cute and grown up.

Christmas Day

We had a wonderful Christmas. Carter woke around 8:00am and was kind of surprised with all the present, and did not know what to do. He started to open his first present and we knew it would be a long process. He took each little piece of paper and wanted to throw it away. Eventually he just wanted us to open the present so he could play with what was inside.

Nate got a lot of new fishing stuff and Carter was excited to try daddy's new vest on.

The new earrings Nate got me for Christmas. He also made a incredible book of all our vacations and adventures of 2008. It was so nice,

Nate tying is fist fly with all his new stuff.

Thanks Grandma Jo for this great present!!

Christmas Eve

This was the first year that we stayed home and did Christmas by ourselves. We had a nice Christmas eve dinner and got to open our Christmas eve packages, our new PJ's. Carter knew something was going on becasue he did not want to go to bed.

Sedona Day Trip

Monday we headed up to Sedona/Cottonwood area to enjoy the beauty as well and get some fishing in. It is about 2 hours north of us. We headed to Dead Horse Ranch with is a National Park just outside of Cottonwood. It has 2 Lagoons, a ton of hiking trails and places that you can camp. The Verde River also runs through the park. We stopped at the second Lagoon and Nate took his pontoon boat out to see if he could catch anything. The area around the lagoon was big enough to cast off of shore, but he wanted to see what it was like out in the middle. Carter and I ate lunch in the car and then bundled up to go hike around. We got a Ketly Kids backpack for Christmas and I wanted to try it out, but he did not want to have anything to do with it. It was a two person job to get him in and he wanted to walk on his own. It was chilly ( mid 40's) but that didn't stop us.

We made it half way down the path and Carter found some rocks to throw. Then we got up to Daddy and watched him for a bit. He caught 3 just while we were standing there. Then Carter ventured back to his favorite look out point and back to the car. So we did not get much of a hike in.

However Carter had so much fun playing in the car and pretending he was driving.

I knew that Nate would be on the Lake until dark, so we brought our lap top so we could watch a movie and hopefully Carter would fall asleep. After we played and danced in the car for awhile I put in Finding Nemo and Put carter in he seat. He fell asleep after about 10 minutes and sleep through the whole movie. When we were headed out we stopped by the river to check it out and Nate saw some fish rising which made him NEED to fish it. So he rigged up again and spent 30 minutes fishing until it was really dark. Last time we were in Sedona we discovered this great pizza place, Picazzo's. They have a few in the valley, but we knew that is were we wanted to go to eat. It was about 20 mile to Sedona, but well worth it. We had a great day and will probably make a Christmas tradition out of it.
